Select one occupation that is especially meaningful to you
or something you do routinely. Discuss this occupation and how it varies based
on changes in the temporal context.

For example, how has eating dinner varied for
you based on your age/developmental level, stage of life, or disability status?
Chinese
Proverb: “If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness
for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If
you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.”
I truly believe life is about serving others and the quote
above is one that has always resonated with me. So many people have invested love
and care into my life; consequently, I feel obligated to help care for others. Even
if I don’t personally know the individual(s), I still have some level of care
and respect; we’re all human. There are a lot of occupations but taking care of
others is one that’s meaningful to me. Growing up, I was one out of ten and I
received a lot of love and care. As the eighth born, I was only responsible for
my younger sister and brother. I would wipe faces, change diapers, and others
similar to those performed by my older siblings. As I aged, I received a lot of
care from others in the community and they would later become part of my
extended family.
Currently, I take care of my son and my fiancée and it
brings me a sense of fulfillment. I truly love taking care of them and being
the individual solely responsible for them. Compared to childhood, I have a lot
more responsibilities and I express that I care in deeper or different ways. I often
apply things experienced from my past and implement in other situations. In
addition, the joy of taking care of others shaped my future career/occupation, and
I’m currently enrolled at Winston Salem State University as an occupational
therapist student.
